Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Detectives Looking For Person of Interest in Highway 99 Rest Stop Death near Turlock, California

March 11, 2014 - Turlock, CA –The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department is asking for assistance in locating a person of interest in the suspicious death that occurred at the 99 rest stop near Turlock, Ca. 

Cheryl-Ruth-Liberty.1On February 26th, 2014 at 8:02 PM fire and medical responded to the northbound rest stop on highway 99 near Turlock for a medical aid. Upon arrival they rendered medical aid to the victim, 41 year old Christina Cardoza. Cardoza died at the scene and law enforcement was called. 

Detectives state Cardoza had sustained an injury earlier that day near Campbell and Winton Parkway in Livingston. It is unknown at this time if this injury is related to the cause of death. The cause of death is pending the autopsy and toxicology report which takes 4-6 weeks. 

Detectives are asking for assistance in locating 64 year old Cheryl Ruth Liberty of Modesto. Liberty is listed as a person of interest in the case.
